Independence Day Celebration…Island style
The 4th of July is San Juan Island’s, and America’s, outdoor holiday, packed with events for kids and adults at both ends of San Juan Island.
And it looks as if the weather, as usual, will cooperate.
• Firecracker 5000 Run:
8 a.m. Friday Harbor Suites
• 4th of July Parade
10:30 a.m., Spring Street, “Storybook Heroes!” Grand Marshal, Margaret Barker
• Pig War Picnic
San Juan Historical Museum, 405 Price St., begins at the 11:15 a.m.
• Rock the Dock
Port of Friday Harbor, by the SJI Yacht Club, featuring the “J-Bots,” evening show, $10 admission, kids, 12 and under, free. Starts at 6 p.m.
• 4th of July Fireworks
Over the Port of Friday Harbor, starting about 10 p.m.
