Penny Williams, devoted wife and loving mother went to be with her Lord and Savior on June 17 from complications of heart surgery.

Penny was born in Seattle on Aug. 24, 1943 to Richard Geraghty and Wilna Wilcox. Raised in Monterey Park, Calif., Penny spent her youth active in Drum & Bugle Corps. She achieved recognition for her skills in rudimental drumming.

In 1962, she met and married Myron (Whitey) Williams in Big Bear, Calif. They moved to Washington in 1964, eventually settling in Friday Harbor. They had many businesses including Whitey’s Food Center and Lakedale Campground.

During this time, Penny became involved in showing Appaloosa horses, earning many national and world championships. Penny and Whitey loved a new adventure and moved often to different locations including Forest Grove, Ore., Winthrop and Sedro Woolley, operating many other successful businesses, including Trinity Farms and Winthrop Mini Storage.

They moved back in April 2014 to their favorite place, Friday Harbor.

Penny was a strong woman with strong beliefs. She held herself to a high standard of ethics and was very generous to those around her. She loved all animals, a clean home and was a very devoted Christian. Her knowledge of the Bible surpassed all.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Myron (Whitey) Williams; her stepmother Barbara Geraghty of Des Moines, Wash.; her sister Robbie Lemon (David) of Los Alamitos, Calif., and brothers Pat Geraghty (Sue) of Lake Forest, Calif. and Scott Hatfield of South Gate, Calif.; her children and their spouses, Lavon Williams of Friday Harbor, Wendy Pinnow (Karl) of Friday Harbor, Cherie Geerdes (Michael) of Sedro Woolley, Myron Williams (Thalya Harvey) of Friday Harbor and Robin Williams (R.T. Kind) of North Plains, Ore.; her stepchildren, Ron Williams of Oceanside, Calif. and Lynne Anderson (David) of St. Louis, Mo.; her grandchildren Ken McCutcheon, Michelle McCutcheon, Jessie McCutcheon, Marissa Linnea, Melisa Pinnow, Kiah Williams, Corbin Williams, Kayla Whitney Geerdes, Devon Whitney Geerdes, Sydney Kind, Brianne Price and six great grandchildren, all of whom she loved dearly.

In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in her honor to World Vision. A celebration of life will be held July 13, 2014 at 2 p.m. at the Transformation Church, 7075 Airport Center in Friday Harbor.

We will miss her laugh, her smiles, her hugs, and her sense of humor dearly. Friends and family are encouraged to share memories and condolences at www.WhidbeyMemorial.com.
