The Town of Friday Harbor will host a retirement reception for Wendy Picinich Friday, June 13, 2-4 p.m., at town hall.

Picinich is stepping down as elected town treasurer and finance officer June 15. She began what would turn into a 30-year career with the town Jan. 1, 1984.

As head of town financial affairs, Picinich is credited with instituting many of the fiscally conservative policies for which the town is known.

She has been active as a volunteer with the Washington Municipal Treasurers Association during her tenure as town treasurer, a position responsible for oversight of the town’s investments and financial assets.

Picinich’s term as treasurer expires Dec. 31, 2015. The town council will appoint a successor to serve as treasurer for the remainder of Picinich’s term in office.
