• Summer Reading Program with Thomas Arthur: Lyrical Juggler, 1:30 p.m., Friday Harbor Elementary School field. Since when is juggling a form of dance? If you have to ask you’ve never seen Thomas Arthur’s choreography for balls, spheres and hoops. Arthur commands his objects to hover and whiz, spin and caper with the rhythmic finesse of a conductor. • Music on the Lawn: The Fun Band with Don Peake, 6:30-8:30 p.m., San Juan Historical Museum. Lopez Island’s favorite party band. • Edge of Wonder with lyrical juggler Thomas Arthur and “Human Jazz” Christian Swenson. 8:00 p.m., San Juan Community Theater. • Twenty second annual Gospel Tent Meeting, 7 p.m. nightly, San Juan County Fairgrounds. Minister Dan Miller and guests. Preaching, singing and celebration. Thursday, speakers David and Zoanne Wilke Friday: world travelers Larry and Ann Hamilton, Imani Fellowship Choir African American Gospel Choir Saturday night. Sunday, missionaries Richard and Sara Machalski doing work in the Ukraine will report on their experiences. 10 a.m. and 7 p.m.

• Book Talk: Author Jennie Shortridge, 7:00 p.m., San Juan Island Library. Jennie Shortridge will read from her 4th novel, “Love and Biology at the Center of the Universe;” Griffin Bay Bookstore will be on hand with copies available for signing. Shortridge is the author of “Eating Heaven” and “Riding with the Queen.”

• Second annual Strawberry Festival, noon to 3 p.m., St. David’s Episcopal Church. Strawberry shortcakes, musicians, games and fun.

Monday, July 14

• Magical Play Acting, Musical Gibberish, and Madcap Dance, 12:30 – 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, San Juan Community Theatre’s PARC (70 Saltspring Drive). Pre-Registration and fee required for this workshop by Tifni Twitchell Lynch for K-3 children. 378-3210.

Host Susan Wingate will feature San Juan authors Shelle Cropper and Bill Carli, writer of Sunset Run, and Alie Smaalders and Lorna Reese of Lopez Island; Lorna is editor of the Lopez Writers Guild’s Shark Reef. Families will enjoy a break from the shopping with an outdoor story hour at 11:30 a.m.
