Friday Harbor’s first-ever Special Olympics bowling team will travel to Mount Vernon to compete in a regional tournament, Saturday.

The five-member team, led by captain Michael Bell, warmed up for the regional competition at Paradise Lanes, Sunday, each bowling a pair of practice rounds. The team has been improving its game since the beginning of September.

Following Sunday’s practice session, team members, along with family and friends, celebrated its first season with pizza, a bowling-pin shaped cake, and an award ceremony.
