Whale Museum holds its second annual Greeting Ceremony Saturday

Each summer, the resident pods of orca whales come together in what are called “greeting ceremonies.” Inspired by that rousing social event, the Whale Museum wants supporters of these wonderful creatures to come together, too.

The Whale Museum is hosting the second annual “Greeting

Ceremony” Fundraising Dinner and Auction on Saturday, June 14. at the Mullis Senior Community Center.

The evening will begin with happy hour & silent auction at 5:30 p.m.; musician Keith Busha will provide live entertainment. Noted chef Farhad Ghatan is preparing the gourmet dinner. Jenny Atkinson, executive director of the museum, will serve up her “Little Killer Cakes” for dessert.

After dinner, auctioneer Eugene Cuomo will emcee a live auction. Happy

hour (no-host bar) begins at 5:30 p.m. followed by a 6:30 p.m. dinner, which includes two glasses of wine.

Tickets are $50.00 per person for members of The Whale Museum and $65.00 per person for non-members and can be purchased at The Whale Museum. To reserve your tickets, call the museum at 360/378-4710 ext. 30. If a group would like to attend, tables in increments of six ticket holders can be reserved.

There are a limited number of tickets available which are selling quickly.

The Whale Museum extends its thanks to Farhad Ghatan for the gourmet dinner, Keith Busha for the music, as well as five local businesses for underwriting the event: Countrywide Bank FSB, Islanders Insurance, Coldwell Banker San Juan Islands, Island Petroleum Services (IPS), and Islanders Bank.
