Fair introduces Soroptimists to volunteer opportunities

Soroptimist International of Friday Harbor held its first Committee Fair at its regular meeting on May 21.
Soroptimist is the largest service club on San Juan, with more than 80 members. The fair was designed to help each member identify the committee area she may want to volunteer in.
Committees include:
n Healthy People, Healthy Planet Committee.
n Membership Committee.
n Fundraising Committee.
n Public Awareness Comm-ittee.
n Best for Women Comm-ittee.
Awards presented annually by Soroptimist include the Women’s Opportunity Award, Making a Difference Award, Violet Richardson Award, Youth of Distinction Award, Fellowship Award, and high school scholarships.
International projects supported by Soroptimist include Hope and Homes for Children in Sierra Leone, West Africa.
At the Committee Fair, Pat Hansen’s Healthy People, Healthy Planet Committee was voted Outstanding Committee of the Year.
