WSU Extension announces new food safety and preservation advisor

Washington State University Extension Program announces Terri Brown as San Juan County’s new Food Safety and Preservation Advisor. Brown, of Friday Harbor, recently completed training and certification that qualifies her to assist the people of San Juan County with questions concerning food safety and preservation. Training for this new volunteer program took place over a period of four weeks and included three days of hands-on lab training on the WSU campus in Pullman. Among the topics covered were food borne illness, canning basics, freezing and drying, preparing and coping with emergencies and disasters, and storing the garden harvest.
