Emergency Medical Services receives Rotary grant
January 18, 2012 · Updated 5:05 PM
Representatives from Emergency Medical Services Headquarters in Friday Harbor, and the San Juan Island (Friday Harbor) Rotary Club, have announced the successful completion of a District Grant from Rotary District 5050 to the EMS San Juan Island Education Vocation Center Outreach Program.
The grant was the culmination of combined efforts from the Friday Harbor Rotary group and local emergency services personnel to provide needed equipment in challenging economic times.
The funds enabled EMS Friday Harbor to purchase new and more technologically sophisticated overhead projection and the associated sound system for the EMS teaching program.
This teaching aid provides community members and others with specific skills and knowledge that will better position them in emergency situations.
In 2010, over 1200 community members and others have taken part in some type of education connected with this program.
