Living in the San Juan Islands offers unique ways to get involved in local life — with local government, schools and other local educational affairs, nonprofit efforts, health and social services organizations or committees and environmental groups.

Leadership San Juan Islands is a training course to introduce interconnecting “systems” that make up daily life in the county.

Through a series of Retreats and Challenge Days, participants will meet with leaders and professionals, to learn and practice facilitation and leadership skills.

Next year marks the eighth year of the LSJI program.

For more information about the program visit www.leadershipsanjuanislands.com or attend the open house, Thursday, Oct. 27, 5-7 p.m., at 285 Geneste Street on the southwest corner of Harrison Street, one block east of the Harrison House.

For more info, contact Steve Hushebeck at woodinville@msn.com or 378-1076.
