K pod welcomes a new calf

K-44 is the 1st known calf of 17 year-old orca, K-27, who is the 3rd offspring of K-13. According to the Center for Whale Research, the calf is male and was less than 24 hours old at the first sighting on July 6. It was seen again the following day traveling with the rest of its family.
