On May 20, my partner, John Vejvoda and I will open Harbor Laundry Services at 315 Carter Ave. No. 3 on San Juan Island. It’s in the Island Petroleum Services building.

I moved to Orcas in 1987 and raised my two sons on the island. For more than two decades, I worked as a professional cleaner and caretaker of homes and private estates. I met John in 2006. When my youngest son went off to college, I moved to San Juan Island, commuting to Orcas daily for eight years. Last August, I started working part-time at the Orcas laundromat and absolutely loved it. John, who runs the transfer station on San Juan, has lived on San Juan since 96.

We decided it would be great to offer the same quality of cleaning service to San Juan, Lopez and Shaw. We will provide services to the tourism industry including hotels, motels, vacation rentals, bed and breakfasts, restaurants, and islanders and visitors who want quality laundry services. We have two large commercial washing machines to wash rugs, sleeping bags, down comforters, and pillows. We have a beautiful new flatwork iron to expertly press sheets, napkins, and tablecloths. We offer pick-up/delivery to Shaw and Lopez residents.
