San Juan County’s Department of Health and Community Services has extended its customer service hours in its Friday Harbor main office at 167 Rhone Street. it will be open 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.

It will be closed to walk-in visitors on Wednesdays; department staff will be available by telephone, email and by appointment.

Last July, budget cuts and a backlog of required office work forced the department to close 1 p.m. daily.  The new schedule adds back about nine hours.

Director John Manning said his department set the new schedule after reviewing the community’s need for walk-in services, and his department’s workflow.
