Combses’ Rumor Mill opens in June at former Pazzo Vivo site

Oren and Peggy Combs, formerly of the Front Street Alehouse, have purchased Pazzo Vivo (175 First St.) from Mari Lariviere. They are remodeling and will reopen it in mid-June as Rumor Mill.

“It’s going to be more open and bright,” Oren Combs said of the restaurant’s interior. The interior design will be “industrial modern with a nostalgia twist,” and the First Street frontage will feature a 12.5-foot glass slide garage door that will swing open to give diners the ambience of sitting outside.

The fryers are going, the pizza ovens are staying. There will be very few pre-processed foods. The menu will be seasonal and local, featuring island beef and island lamb. “We’ll have some Mediterranean flavors in there,” Combs said.

Rumor Mill will have Trivia Night, Music Trivia Night, Blues Night, “as well as a lot of the musical things that happened at the brew pub,” he said.

Combs expects Rumor Mill will employ 15 full-time workers.
