Peace of Mind Pet Sitting has expanded into farm and house sitting.
Peace of Mind is owned by Jaileen Panger, a professional pet sitter who is certified in pet first aid and CPR, and is soon to be accredited with Pet Sitters International. She is trained by American Humane to shelter animals in an emergency, and she is looking into getting certified in large animal rescue by the Washington State Animal Response Team.
Peace of Mind was established in 2003, but Panger has been doing pet sitting and house sitting on San Juan Island for 15 years. She is bonded, licensed and insured. She also does group dog walking.
Panger minds homes for people who are on vacation — "I am a live living presence in the home," she said — and vacant homes that are for sale.
"I find when I am house sitting, I miss animals. It's a bit of an addiction, but that's what you want in a pet sitter," she said.
