Charlie and Lynn Meyer are selling Island Petroleum Service to Jim and Kate Schuman, effective April 1.

Terms of the sale and purchase were not disclosed.

Island Petroleum Service, or IPS, provides fuel for residential customers as well as construction, marine, retail and wholesale. It operates a fuel dock, service station, a truck fleet and warehouse.

IPS is located at 315 Carter Ave., Friday Harbor. It is staffed Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Jim Schuman has lived on San Juan Island for 53 years and, for 20 years, owned Schuman Excavating. He said he looks forward to the change and believes the purchase is a great opportunity. He hopes to establish new commercial clients.

The Meyers owned IPS for 15 years. Charlie is impressed by Jim's energy and believes he will bring new ideas to the established business.
