Businesses ask for after-hours lighting
February 2, 2009 · 1:33 PM
The Friday Harbor Town Council will consider changes in the sign ordinance Thursday, 6 p.m., during its evening meeting at Town Hall.
The meeting is open to the public.
The ordinance change, requested by local businesses, would allow illumination of signs and display cases after business hours.
Businesses, led by the San Juan Island Chamber of Commerce, say the change will make downtown more inviting, would draw more after-hours attention to local businesses, and would give downtown a safer feel at night.
