The Friday Harbor Town Council will consider renewing its utility assistance program Thursday, 12:20 p.m., during its noon meeting at Town Hall.

The meeting is open to the public.

Funds budgeted for the program are administered by the Family Resource Center. It helps low-income town residents who are faced with cancellation of their refuse, sewer or water service because of non-payment.

Each eligible household can receive assistance once in a 12-month period.

Five households participated in the program in 2008. Three have participated since Jan. 1, Family Resource Center director Joyce Sobel said.
