EDC workshop: learn to build your own website or blog

January 22, 2013 · Updated 1:57 PM

The San Juan County Economic Development Council is sponsoring a workshop on building a website or blog using WordPress, Wednesday, Jan. 30, at the San Juan Island Library, 9 a.m. to noon.

Participants will learn fundamentals of producing a website or blog using the WordPress personal publishing system. Each participant will leave the class with a live site up on the web.

The workshop is geared for businesses that need an online presence, for organizations wanting to keep their membership informed, or for entrepreneurs looking for something more easy to customize than social media. WordPress offers fully customizable, free web software that can be used to create a site in almost any format.

The workshop will be taught by Bryan Hoyer, an inventor and successful entrepreneur who built his first website in 1995, and who spent 25 years in Silicon Valley before moving to the islands in 2007; fee is $15.

Advance registration and laptop required. To register, or for more info, 360-378-2906, or email to info@sanjuansedc.org.
