Social media and social influence marketing workshop for your business

Victoria Compton of the San Juan Economic Development Council will teach a workshop about social media and social influence marketing on Dec. 6, 8:30 a.m. to noon at the library.
The course begins with a basic overview of definitions, best practices, and platforms. It will cover tutorials on setting up a Facebook fan page, a Twitter account and tracking SIM campaigns using tools like Google Analytics.
Additionally, the class will look at search engine optimization and QR codes.
Compton has worked for over 20 years in marketing and advertising. She founded “At Home Magazine” and published the first three official Visitors’ Guides to the San Juans in collaboration with the SJI Visitors’ Bureau. She later worked as a marketing consultant in Manhattan and the New York metro area, with a focus on helping small- to mid-sized companies.
The cost of the workshop is $60. Participants must provide their own laptop with a wireless card; advance registration is required. The class is sponsored by by the Economic Development Council and hosted by San Juan Island Library.
