May 24, 2011 · Updated 10:44 AM
Jennifer Elise has been appointed the director of the San Juan Islands Museum of Art and Sculpture Park (IMA).
“Connecting people with the visual arts through the IMA museum, Sculpture Park and educational programs is important for the health and vitality of our community and I am excited to be involved in the development and growth of this organization,” Elise said.
Elise received a degree in accounting at the University of Arkansas, was a founding member of the Las Vegas Art Museum board of directors and served on the board's Art Education Committee. Her resume includes a wide range of professional assignments and artistic endeavors; art teacher, commissioned portrait artist, illustrator, bank auditor, public relations, advertising and marketing specialist.
Elise said one of her goals as IMA director will be to develop a sculpture park and museum docent program, modeled after a similar and successful program operated by the San Juan Community Arts Theatre Society.
Over 20 pieces of new artistic creations are expected to be placed at the Sculpture Park this July.
